Sarah Chérif Gambin is a Paris-born, San Francisco-based artist whose work explores the intersection of emotion, psychology, and abstraction. Through an intuitive and process-driven approach, she creates paintings and sculptural works that give form to the mind’s inner landscape.
A central motif in her practice is the horse, which appears as a powerful and symbolic presence throughout her work. These dynamic forms embody instinct, freedom, and transformation, often emerging from a tension between control and release. Her horses exist in states of motion and transition, reflecting the shifting nature of emotional experience.
Alongside her paintings, Sarah Chérif Gambin’s sculptural relief works extend this exploration into three dimensions. Her clay compositions are inspired by the spirit of the horse, a presence she intuitively perceives as each piece takes form. Often echoing Rorschach-like imperfect symmetry, these works merge instinct with structure, inviting viewers to project their own interpretations and engage with the subconscious.
Raised between Paris and Caracas, Chérif Gambin’s multicultural background informs her sensitivity to rhythm, space, and nonverbal expression.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in San Francisco, Switzerland, Madrid, Paris, Marbella, and Miami.
Through her evolving series, Chérif Gambin continues to explore how instinct becomes form and how emotion translates into presence, creating works that invite introspection, connection, and transformation.
