THE SAN FRANCISCO DESIGN CENTER WELCOMES PALECEK
The San Francisco Design Center welcomes Palecek, producer of fine furniture,
accessories and lighting using natural materials, crafted by artisans around
the world.
Palecek is distinct in their ability to mix and weave natural fibers into
unique statement pieces, going beyond rattan and wicker and creating
extraordinary collections featuring plantation grown hard wood, Seagrass and
Havana weaves. The result of this innovative styling is a collection of pieces
that suit any setting, whether rustic, elegant, classic or modern.
“Palecek began as a one-man operation and has evolved into a worldwide network
of individuals dedicated to bring outstanding woven rattan to American
designers. They are consistently at the forefront of innovation in crafted
furniture and accessories,” states Tim Treadway, CEO of the San Francisco
Design Center.
Being eco-friendly with good design has become “eco-chic,” but Palecek has
been concerned with the issues of conservation throughout its 30 years in
business. “Organic, sustainable natural materials are very strong style
elements right now, but we have always recognized the importance of
conservation” says Allan Palecek, “Our designs have always relied on quickly
renewable resources like rattan and plantation-grown woods that do not deplete
forests. And, while conservation is vital, giving back is just as important.”
That’s why Palecek is a major contributor to the rainforest projects in the
Philippines, which is in the process of planting more than a million trees. In
addition to environmental conservation, Palecek strives to preserve the
cultural heritage of craftspeople that help make their products by investing
in schools and local art projects in the Philippines, Indonesia and other
countries.
